A Cheaper, Easier Alternative to Poke Bowls
A Cheaper, Easier Alternative to Poke Bowls
Poke is a dish of diced aw tuna or raw salmon tossed in sauce and served either as an appetizer or a main course.

Let me make one thing clear: "sushi grade" fish is a marketing term, not a regulatory one. But it's hard to enjoy your meal when you have food safety on your mind too severely, so this is a way for poke-lovers to have a fish meal at home that's just barely cooked enough to bring them total peace of mind.

STEPS

  1. Cook a pot of rinsed white sushi rice in seasoned water
  2. Prep poke bowl toppings to taste
  3. When there are 8 minutes left on the rice's cook timer, drop 1.5-2lbs of 1-inch Atlantic salmon cubes on top of the steaming rice. Replace the lid immediately and steam for 8 minutes.
