How to Make Southern Fried Catfish
This soul food staple is a simple and easy recipe to make any night of the the week. This fried catfish recipe is made with both cornmeal and flour and seasoned to perfection. You family will love it.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 lbs Catfish
  • 1 Cup Cornmeal
  • ¼ Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tsps Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tsps Salt
  • 2 tsps  Black Pepper
  • Canola Oil

DIRECTIONS 

In a small bowl combine the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper. Generously season the fish with the mixture. In another bowl whisk together the cornmeal, flour and the remainder of the seasoning mixture. Lightly beat your egg. Dredge the fish in the egg wash then the meal mixture. Using a cast iron skillet, preheat your oil to 350 degrees. Fry the fish for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove the fish from the pan and place on paper towels to remove the excess oil.
