This simple alteration on classic strawberry jam is addictive and (in my biased opinion) better than the normal stuff.

INGREDIENTS

  • 10 oz frozen strawberries
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, diced
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

DIRECTIONS

  1. Thaw strawberries over medium heat, stirring regularly.
  2. Once soft, mash strawberries to desired consistency.
  3. Add all other ingredients and stir to dissolve sugar.
  4. Simmer for 20-30 minutes until temperature reaches 220°F (104°C)
  5. Remove from heat and skim off surface foam (optional)
  6. Add to jars and allow to cool for at least an hour at room temp. Then, store in fridge for 2-3 weeks.

Optional: Water bath the filled jars and they can be stored at room temperature for 1 year.
