This simple alteration on classic strawberry jam is addictive and (in my biased opinion) better than the normal stuff.
INGREDIENTS
- 10 oz frozen strawberries
- 2 jalapeño peppers, diced
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
DIRECTIONS
- Thaw strawberries over medium heat, stirring regularly.
- Once soft, mash strawberries to desired consistency.
- Add all other ingredients and stir to dissolve sugar.
- Simmer for 20-30 minutes until temperature reaches 220°F (104°C)
- Remove from heat and skim off surface foam (optional)
- Add to jars and allow to cool for at least an hour at room temp. Then, store in fridge for 2-3 weeks.
Optional: Water bath the filled jars and they can be stored at room temperature for 1 year.
