Benihana's diablo sauce is a spicy, creamy, sweet and savory dipping sauce beloved by hibachi restaurant fans.
Benihana Version
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (48 gram) ichimi togarashi
- 1/4 cup (85 gram) honey
- 1/4 cup (60 gram) ketchup
- 3/4 cup (180 gram) kewpie brand mayonnaise
Directions
- Mix togarashi, honey and ketchup until you achieve the consistency of wet sand
- Mix in mayonnaise until thoroughly combined
(For hotter sauce, add more togarashi. For milder flavor, add more mayonnaise.)
Seven Spice Version
Ingredients
1/2 cup (48 gram) shichimi togarashi (nanami togarashi – Japanese seven spice)
1/4 cup (85 gram) honey
1/4 cup (60 gram) ketchup
1/2 cup (120 gram) kewpie brand mayonnaise
Directions
- Mix togarashi, honey and ketchup until you achieve the consistency of wet sand
- Mix in mayonnaise until thoroughly combined
