Personally, I use Don Q rum. Which you can find in any liquor store. Nothing like authentic Puerto Rican rum for that special kick. I start with the standard 2 cups and then add a little kick depending on what's left in the size bottle I purchased and my mood. Like an extra half cup or so. You're done making this in 5 minutes flat!!!!
