These Jamaican fried dumplings are the real deal! They're perfectly puffy, golden brown on the outside, with a crispy exterior. So easy too!
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Milk/Water
- 2 tbsp Cold Butter
- 1 tbsp Baking Powder (Preferably double acting)
- 1/2 tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Salt
DIRECTIONS
- Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl
- Add milk or water gradually and mix well
- Knead dough until it comes together, about 5 minutes
- Rest for 5-10 minutes
- Knead for another 5 minutes, the dough should be really smooth now
- Rest for another 5-10 minutes
- Form Dough Balls by pulling off a piece of dough enough to make a golf ball sized dumpling
- In a heavy bottom pan on medium low heat, pour in enough oil to fry the dough balls. oil should reach at least half way the height of each ball for the best result
- Fry dough balls until golden brown and cooked right through, cover half way through and turn periodically....should take around 8 minutes
- Enjoy!
