Tablet is a medium-hard, sugary confection from Scotland. Tablet is usually made from sugar, condensed milk, and butter, which is boiled to a soft-ball stage and allowed to crystallize. It is often flavored with vanilla and sometimes has nut pieces in it.
Now you might think Scottish tablet and fudge look the same. Scottish tablet and fudge are made in a similar way. That is by melting sugars and using elbow grease to reach a thickening point. But it is the liquid in the tablet recipe that makes all the difference. Traditionally fudge is made with double or clotted cream, while tablet is made with condensed milk.
INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup of unsalted butter (175g)
- 1/3 cup of sweetened condensed milk (75g)
- 2 1/4 cups of caster sugar (450g)
- 2 tsp vanilla
Now...for something different I am also including a MICROWAVE version! Yes, you read that right 😳. What his uses is evaporated milk, butter and caster sugar.
