The Appalachian (Mountain) dulcimer is a fretted string instrument of the lute family, typically with three or four strings, originally played in the Appalachian region of the United States. The body extends the length of the fingerboard, and its fretting is generally diatonic.

Playing a dulcimer is quick and easy.  Comes in many forms.  Personally, I own about 5 different ones.  Some just sit on the lap while others use a bow.  I also have some antique ones.  I'll show everything I have in a future post.  I think you'll be amused.

For now...here is a little information about the dulcimer and a successful maker.

Curious where you could purchase one OR how to make one?  I've got you covered.

What's your reaction?
