These Japanese style dressings are creamy and sesame based. While salad dressings are not inherently Japanese they have managed to work it into their cuisine and come up with some of their own flavors using some of their own unique ingredients.
Dressing #1 - Oil Free and Creamy
- 1/3 cup sesame seeds, toast in hot pan until popping
- 1/4 cup each rice vinegar, soy sauce, maple syrup
Blend
- Can be eaten like this, or blended with 1/2 cup silken tofu for added creaminess
Dressing #2 - Umami Loaded
- 1/3 cup each: sesame oil, neutral oil, soy sauce, maple syrup
- 1/2 cup rice vinegar
- 3/4 cup nutritional yeast
to scale up or down, this translates to:
- 1 part each: sesame oil, neutral oil, soy sauce, maple syrup
- 1½ parts rice vinegar
- 2 parts nutritional yeast
