Nature in the Shadows: The Lockdown's Impact on Wildlife
During this unprecedented lockdown period, initiatives were undertaken, such as turning off street lights at certain times in many cities around the world. In addition, the reduction of commercial and industrial activities made cities less bright than they were before the pandemic.

Although the lockdown periods were relatively short, the results were not long in coming. Insects and migratory birds (Petrels in Reunion Island) were less overwhelmed by the lights, and many species of turtles returned to lay their eggs on nearly deserted beaches.

All over the world, research centers and experts have identified these changes and for several years have been proposing concrete solutions, to prolong the decrease of light pollution.
