I'm very fussy when it comes to jeans — and I firmly believe that's the way it should be. But that's not to say I'm out here dropping hundreds of dollars on designer denim. In fact, I've found pairs I love from none other than Walmart (yes, really) and, most recently, Old Navy. The retailer's Extra High-Waisted Sky Hi Ripped Wide-Leg Jeans For Women ($50) are my current obsession, and I firmly believe everyone needs them in their wardrobe for spring.

These jeans check off all of my boxes. For starters, they fit me perfectly, which is great and all, but it's the style that has me hooked. As someone who's far from ready to jump on board the low-rise jeans trend, these make a strong case against doing so because they pair so perfectly with a blouse or T-shirt. Likewise, the fitted waist extends into a wide-leg silhouette that looks NYC street style ready. And that subtle distressed detail at the knee? *Chef's kiss* perfection.

This style is exactly what I've been searching for ahead of spring, and I think it's the perfect fusion of trendy and classic. I love that they aren't overly distressed (à la the Hollister jeans I wore circa 2011) and that the raw-edge cutoff leg openings give them a lived-in look, like a gem you'd find at the thrift store. As someone intent on building a year-round capsule wardrobe, I feel good knowing they will look just as good with an oversize sweater as they will with a tank or tee.

In the meantime, I love wearing them with the Aritzia Babaton Contour Longsleeve Bodysuit that TikTok convinced me to buy (it's worth it) and my go-to pair of white pointed-toe Marc Fisher boots to match. This 'fit, pictured at the top of this article, screams spring, right down to my fuchsia acrylics (yes, I'm missing one on my left hand, ugh). It may be a literal one degree where I live — but hey, a girl can pretend it's warm!

What's your reaction?
