
Outside of his adopted country, France, the name Théophile Steinlen doesn't mean an awful lot to most people.
He's certainly far less well remembered than his contemporary Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, even though at the time he was just as admired, if not more so.
Théophile Alexandre Steinlen, was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker. He was politically engaged and collaborated with anarchist and socialist press.
