In 1990 she signed up as a backing vocalist for the R&B group Immature and got also helped by sending out a demo-tape. Finally in 1993 she signed a record deal with a bigger company and started working on her debut album while she also played part in a sitcom named 'Thea'. She released her debut studio album 'Brandy' in 1994 and peaked at #20 in the US Billboard album charts. The album has been certified quadruple platinum in the USA and sold over 2 million times in her homecountry and around 6 million times worldwide.
In 1996 her single "Sittin' Up In My Room" peaked at #2 in the USA, her best result so far. Then in 1998 she released her 2nd studio album "Never Say Never" which peaked at #2 in the USA and charted all across the world where it sold around 15 million times. It has been certified 5-times platinum in the USA, 4-times platinum in Canada, platinum in the UK and Australia among other places. Two singles went to #1 in the US Billboard Single Charts: Her duet with singer Monica called "The Boy Is Mine" (13 weeks) and her song "Have You Ever?" (2 weeks) both reached the mountain-top. "The Boy Is Mine" also won the Grammy Award for 'Best R&B duet with vocals'. Afterwards Brandy took time off from the music and continued her acting career.
In 2002 she released her 3rd studio album "Full Moon" which peaked at #2 in the USA and sold around a million times there. It was certified platinum in her homecountry. In 2004 she released her next studio album "Afrodisiac" which peaked at #3 in the USA. In 2008 her 5th studio album "Human" was released and peaked at #15 in the USA. Brandy continued her career as both an actress and singer and in 2012 released her 6th studio album "Two Eleven" which peaked at #3 in the USA.
In 2020 Brandy finally released her 7th studio album "B7" which peaked at #12 in the USA.
