Meet Artist Stuart Semple
Stuart Semple is a British contemporary artist known for his vibrant, socially engaged artworks and his advocacy for artistic freedom. Born in 1980 in Bournemouth, England, Semple works across painting, sculpture, and performance art, often exploring themes of pop culture, mental health, and accessibility in the arts.

He gained widespread recognition for his public feud with artist Anish Kapoor over the exclusive rights to Vantablack, the blackest black pigment. In response, Semple developed alternative pigments like Black 3.0, Pinkest Pink, and Phosphorescent Green, making them available to all artists except Kapoor.

Semple’s work has been exhibited internationally, and he has collaborated with institutions like the Tate and the ICA. Beyond art, he is an advocate for mental health awareness, often integrating personal experiences with anxiety and depression into his creative practice.
