
Chef Frank shares his grandmother’s recipe for meatballs in brown onion gravy.
INGREDIENTS
Meatballs
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tbsp minced onion
- 2 tbsp minced bell pepper
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp kitchen bouquet
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 egg
Gravy
- 1 1/2 cups sliced onion
- 2 tbsp flour
- 4 tbsp veg oil
- 3 cups water
DIRECTIONS
- Combine all ingredients to make meatballs. Form golf ball size balls. Sauté...DON’T BURN
- Remove meatballs from pan
- Sauté onions
- Add 2 tbsp flour and 2 tbsp veg oil
- Cook out the flour
- Gradually add 3 Cups water
- Add 2 tbsp kitchen bouquet/gravy master
- Add salt and pepper
- Reduce to desired thickness
- Return meatballs to pan and let simmer until warmed back up.
