Chef Frank shares his grandmother’s recipe for meatballs in brown onion gravy.

INGREDIENTS 

Meatballs 

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp minced onion 
  • 2 tbsp minced bell pepper 
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder 
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder 
  • 1/2 tsp salt 
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper 
  • 2 tbsp kitchen bouquet 
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Gravy

  • 1 1/2 cups sliced onion 
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 4 tbsp veg oil
  • 3 cups water

DIRECTIONS 

  1. Combine all ingredients to make meatballs. Form golf ball size balls. Sauté...DON’T BURN
  2. Remove meatballs from pan
  3. Sauté onions
  4. Add 2 tbsp flour and 2 tbsp veg oil
  5. Cook out the flour 
  6. Gradually add 3 Cups water
  7. Add 2 tbsp kitchen bouquet/gravy master
  8. Add salt and pepper
  9. Reduce to desired thickness
  10. Return meatballs to pan and let simmer until warmed back up.
