These Fabric Baskets are super easy to make!! And, you get 2 Fabric Baskets out of two Fat Quarters.

Fat Quarters measure 22″ x 18″ and you’re going to cut your fabric to measure 10″ x 18″.  But, if you find your Fat Quarter just shy of 18″  that’s okay, just make sure you cut all three layers the same size (for example 10″ x 17″).

You need three pieces and all three will measure 10″ x 18″:

  1. Outside fabric (mine was the flower print)
  2. Lining fabric
  3. Fusible Fleece

You’ll also need your Basic Sewing Supplies (sewing machine, iron, scissors, clips or pins),  And, a Walking Foot will make it so much easier to sew!!

These Reversible Fabric Baskets were made with the Hello Darling by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics and it may be hard to find.  It was one of my favorites and I stock piled it (kinda like paper crafters stock pile their Designer Series Paper).   Any of the fabric by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics would work for the baskets!   I made this quilt for my aunt Cecilia using the Daysail Fabric.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Choose two Fat Quarters that coordinate.
  2. Press Fat Quarters.
  3. Cut both Fat Quarters to measure 10” x 18”.  Cut Fusible Fleece 10” x 18”
  4. Press the Fusible Fleece to the Lining Fabric.
  5. If you’re adding a label, pin it in the seam line on the front of the outside fabric.
  6. Fold your fabric in half, pin or clip and sew down the le and right side.  Do this step on both the front fabric and lining fabric.
  7. Please watch video tutorial to make this project.
  8. Using a Grid and an erasable marker, trace a 1-1/2 square on boom corners.  Cut out, pinch together, clip and sew.
  9. Turn the lining fabric right side out and place inside outside fabric (right sides of fabric should be facing each other).  Clip or pin around the basket. See photo on page 3.
  10. Sew together and leave a 2” opening.  Turn right sides out and sew it closed.
