How Do Chinese Restaurants Make Sweet and Sour Sauce So Good?
This sweet and sour sauce tastes delicious with chicken, or even pork. It is so easy to make and it will give your chicken that delicious sweet and sour flavor that everyone loves.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tsp red food coloring

TIP:  If you're not a fan of the red food coloring you can use tomato paste or or ketchup.  It will alter the taste slightly though. Give it a shot an see which method you prefer.

Here is a slight variation that does not require mixing up a slurry seperately.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 tsp cornstarch (or tapioca, arrowroot, etc.)
  • 4 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup water (180ml)
  • 2 drops red gel food coloring (Americolor Super Red)

Mix everything in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Once to a boil and thickened, remove from heat and serve. Makes about 1 cup of sauce. Use for dipping sauce, on top of fried rice or to make sweet and sour chicken or pork. Enjoy!
