Easy Homemade Rice Mixes: Delicious Flavors, Simple Prep
Never buy rice mixes again! These are ready anytime you need a tasty side dish. Whether you are making them for yourself or as gifts.

PREP

  1. Choose which kind of rice mix you are making.
  2. Add the rice to your jar.
  3. Mix all seasonings for your chosen rice mix together and put into a small ziploc bag and add this to your jar.
  4. Store in an air tight container.

Yellow Rice

  • 3 cups long grain white rice
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • Butter (for cooking)
  • Chicken broth/water (for cooking)

Onion Rice

  • 3 cups long grain white rice
  • 4 tbsp onion soup mix
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Chicken broth/water (for cooking)

Herb Butter Rice

  • 3 cups long grain white rice
  • 2 tbsp chicken bouillon powder
  • 2 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 2 tsp minced onion flakes
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp lemon pepper
  • Butter (for cooking)
  • Chicken broth/water (for cooking)

DIRECTIONS

Yellow Rice

  1. Add 1 tbsp butter to a pot and let it melt.
  2. Rinse 1⁄2 cup rice well and then add it to your butter.
  3. Cook rice in butter for 1-2 minutes, then add in 2 tsp of the seasoning mix. Mix well and then add 1 cup chicken broth.
  4. Bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce heat to a simmer, cover and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Do not open. After 15 minutes, remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 15 minutes.

Onion Rice

  1. Rinse your 1⁄2 cup of rice.
  2. Add the rice, 2 1⁄2 tsp seasoning mix and 1 cup chicken broth to a pot and stir well.
  3. Bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce heat to a simmer, cover and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Do not open. After 15 minutes, remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 15 minutes.

Herb Butter Rice

  5. After it sits for 15 minutes, fluff up your rice and add 1 tbsp butter.
  6. I cover mine back up for another minute or so to melt the butter.
  7. Stir well and serve.
