In the vibrant heart of Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. Hester Petty recently celebrated a milestone that few achieve: her 100th birthday on May 17, 2025. Known for her radiant smile and zest for life, Dr. Petty marked the occasion with a week-long trip to New York City, revisiting cherished memories and embracing new adventures.

Her journey to this centennial celebration is a testament to resilience and determination. Throughout her life, Dr. Petty and her family faced the challenges of racial injustice. Yet, they remained steadfast, never allowing adversity to define them. Dr. Petty's experiences have fueled her commitment to truth and justice, inspiring those around her.

In honor of her remarkable life, friends organized a surprise birthday tea at Chets Creek Church, where Dr. Petty's joy was palpable. Her enthusiasm and optimism are encapsulated in her own words: "I really feel that I might make another 100 [years]."
