Easy homemade Ginger and Honey cough drops.
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup grated ginger
- 1/4 cup honey
- Powdered sugar or cornstarch for dusting
DIRECTIONS
- Combine the sugar, water, lemon juice and ginger in a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
- Boil for 5 minutes on medium heat. Strain the ginger syrup and transfer the ginger juice into the saucepan.
- Boil for 2 to 3 minutes.
- After 2 to 3 minutes, in a small bowl of water, add a small drop of ginger syrup, and when rolled, it turns to a small ball.
- Add in the honey, mix and boil until done.
- Test by dropping a little syrup onto dusted wax paper or butter paper; if the syrup holds the shape, then it's ready.
- Let the mixture cool slightly, then drop onto a wax paper into rounds.
- Allow cooling completely, dust with powdered sugar or cornstarch.
- Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
