Turkish delight or lokum is a family of confections based on a gel of starch and sugar. Premium varieties consist largely of chopped dates, pistachios, hazelnuts or walnuts bound by the gel; traditional varieties are often flavored with rosewater, mastic gum, bergamot orange, or lemon.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 cup corn starch
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 4.5 cups water
- pink food coloring
NOTE: It says corn flour but for us American's it's actually corn starch. Check out this orange flavored variation. Once you learn the basics you can mix it up with flavors and colors.
