Top 10 Highest Ranked HBCUs - Historically Black Colleges & Universities (2021). The first public HBCU, Cheney University in Pennsylvania was established in 1837, and they have been a standard of academic excellence ever since, producing generations and generations of leaders, engineers, and innovators.
