True story. I used Satan Spawn the Caco Daemon as the soundtrack of an animated project in my ninth grade German class titled Attack of the Carrots. I got an A.

The fact that it's less than 30 minutes does it no harm. There is absolutely no filler here folks. This is Glen Benton's best bass performance and one of his best vocal performances of all time, the Hoffman brothers lay down some of their best riffs and solos and Steve asheim doesn't miss a beat

This and Deicide are two of the best death metal albums. This is a continuation of how great their first album was. Rarely do I like every song on an album, but they killed it with these two. I would only recommend their garage album to diehard Deicide fans though... I bought it just to have it, the studio versions are the same songs and obviously clearer. Deicide, Death, Entombed, Obituary, Cancer (check out Death Shall Rise)... Some of the best Death Metal bands to ever exist.

Ah yes who doesn't love old Deicide? Or any Deicide for that matter. This is the bands second album and it is packed with a dark atmosphere and a grueling sound you will never forget solos and drum beats at their finest! This album is at the #2 spot for me Deicide's 1st album gets the #1 If you're looking for the best Death Metal out there Deicide id the way to go.

the only reason why i give this four stars is because i don't like how the pass pedals sound in the mix, it's cranked up a little too high for my tastes (it may grow on me over time however). the music is still amazing, that complaining factor aside is no excuse not to buy this classic.

A follow up to the one of the most intense albums for it's day by making it more intense. This album still give me chills. I like scaring hillybillies, old ladies, christians through my stereo with this masterpiece. STAY TRUE, STAY BRUTAL, HORNS TO THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF METAL!!!! Long time fan since the beginning.
  • A satanic and detached testament to aggression.

First of all, let me clarify the title of this review. Satanic: Satan is a direct metaphor for the opposite of what American society embraces as good or "God". Glen may be totally serious, but the music allows the satanic imagery to be more than what it appears to be. Detached: The music is very direct, yet it breaks free of any personal or individual viewpoint and is therefore more like sheer will. Agression: I really don't need to say anything. Listen to any of the above samples. This death metal record is one of the most definitive albums in all of metal. It abandons any notion of verse/chorus based songs and instead shoves riffs in for the sake of crushing the listener with the sheer density of riffing. Glen's voice is very effective, from the usual deep growling to intense screams. Unlike many other artists though, the vocals are never out of place always adding an extra "oomph" to the assault. Riffing is literally unsurpassed in death metal as far as creating tension goes. Base brings a rumbling and brooding power to the album while accentuating just about everything else. Drumming takes the album to another dimension, always there to add an extra thread of brutality to pretty much everything. This is a pretty simple analysis, but really, I reccomend this album to anybody with an open mind. Up until 1992, no piece of music had "quite" created such an utterly evil yet engaging sound (which isn't to say there weren't albums that hadn't done this). Legion is a masterwork that truly pushed the envelop for metal songwriting, and should be held up as the masterpiece that it is. 10/10.
