Midnight ’Til Morning Lights Up with Debut Single “Heart on Fire” from Building the Band
Netflix-formed pop group Midnight ’Til Morning debuts with “Heart on Fire,” a passionate first single from their new EP Afterglow. The band brings raw emotion, rich harmonies, and rising-star energy to their global launch.

Midnight ’Til Morning (often stylized MTM) emerged from Netflix’s music-competition series Building the Band. On the show, four individual contestants—Mason Watts, Conor Smith, Shane Appell, and Zach Newbould—were brought together through a process of auditions, blind “likes,” and group performances. They advanced through rounds performing songs like “Ocean Eyes,” “Iris,” “Circles,” and “The Reason” before finishing in fourth place.

Though they didn’t win the top prize, they walked away with something arguably more valuable: a platform, a fanbase, and a launching pad. After the show, they signed with Chugg Music and began releasing music.

In the months following Building the Band, they dropped singles like “Bye,” “Ghost of Us,” “Navy Eyes,” and “Welcome to LA.” Their sound blends pop’s cinematic hooks, emotional vulnerability, and vocal polish — no over-the-top choreography, just heartfelt performance.

“Heart on Fire”: A Debut Statement

Released yesterday, “Heart on Fire” serves as the lead single from their debut EP Afterglow, which also dropped concurrently. The EP contains seven tracks, including both their earlier singles and new songs like “17” and “Edge of Amazing.”

“Heart on Fire” was co-written by Adam Yaron, Feli Ferraro, Joshua Murty, and Castle (the latter affiliated with Anne-Marie), with Murty also producing the track. The video, directed by Josh Harris with Recliner, channels a sleek 90s / early 2000s aesthetic — a nod to vintage campaigns from Gap or Calvin Klein — matching the band’s high-energy, charismatic presence.

Musically, the song builds from bright acoustic guitar and a punchy beat into a soaring, arena-ready chorus. It pulses with urgency, vulnerability, and the thrill of new love.

As Mason Watts put it:

“ ‘Heart on Fire’ feels like the perfect song to lead into Afterglow because it captures the energy we want to bring to our shows and to this whole era.”

“Heart on Fire” isn’t just a debut single — it’s a bold blueprint of who MTM wants to be: emotionally resonant, visually striking, and ready for big stages.

What’s Next

The release arrives just in time for their first global tour, covering North America, Australia, and Europe, with multiple shows already sold out in major markets. The momentum is real — they’ve already crossed 11 million streams on Spotify in a relatively short span.

In short: MTM is done waiting in the wings. “Heart on Fire” is their signal flare — they’re here, they’re burning bright, and the world better be watching.
