Jungle has never treated dancing as mere decoration, and the new “Move Like You Do” video proves once again that movement is practically another instrument in the group’s music. Taken from Jungle’s new album Sunshine, the track arrives with a visually striking performance built prominently around choreography, allowing the dancers’ bodies to accent the rhythm, groove and personality of the song.
That connection between sound and movement was quite literally built into the track. While rehearsing “Move Like You Do,” Jungle worked with choreographer and dancer Will West, experimenting with different tempos until the music and choreography clicked together perfectly. According to J Lloyd, they tried the song at 120, 122 and finally 121 BPM while developing the performance. West choreographed the Sunshine visual project, which consists of 11 music videos shot in just four days.
The result feels unmistakably Jungle: sleek, soulful, rhythmic and almost impossible to watch without paying attention to the dancers. Rather than creating a conventional music video in which choreography simply accompanies the song, “Move Like You Do” makes dance part of the storytelling itself. It continues one of Jungle’s greatest visual signatures—the idea that sometimes the best way to see music is to watch somebody move to it.
