Dua Lipa (Austin City Limits Music Festival 2024)

Dua Lipa performed at Austin City Limits Music Festival, Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, in Zilker Park.

A deafening scream ripped across the field as Dua Lipa cat walked onto the stage clad in dominatrix black and surrounded by a dance team that seemed about a dozen people deep around 8:25 p.m. As a pounding rhythm coalesced into a familiar melody, the crowd went wild. “Training Season” was officially over. Her dancers broke it down around her, snapping their bodies into shifting stage pictures. As the song came to a close, a group of men hoisted her to their shoulders and carried her around the stage like the reigning pop queen she is.

What followed was a staggering hit parade — “One Kiss” into “Illusion” into “Break My Heart” into “Levitating.” The crowd screamed the “Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeahs” on the latter song as a spiraling galaxy of lights played across the screen behind her and the night's first round of fireworks went off.
