1976: The Curious Case of the UPSIDE-DOWN Library
1976: The Curious Case of the UPSIDE-DOWN Library
Nationwide's Martin Young reports from the new public library building in Grimond, near Milton Keynes.

Rumours abound that the flagship building has been built upside-down, rumours that appear to be substantiated by a handful of photographs smuggled out from inside the library, and testimony  from the librarian. Who is to blame? The contractors? The architect? The Council? Or perhaps a flaw in the design of the photolitho-reproduction machine?

It can sometimes be hard to tell with Nationwide, but BBC Archive can confirm that this report actually is an April Fool.

Now....think about the story.  Look at the date.  It's a news segment.  Why?
