Alice is an object-based educational programming language with an integrated development environment. Alice uses a drag and drop environment to create computer animations using 3D models. The software was developed first at University of Virginia in 1994, then Carnegie Mellon, by a research group led by Randy Pausch.

Now, Alice is 100% FREE!  Do you have a kid that loves playing games and interested in created their own?  Robux?  Mincraft?  This is perfect for them.

Alice is used by teachers at all levels from middle schools (and sometimes even younger) to universities, in school classrooms and in after school and out of school programming, and in subjects ranging from visual arts and language arts to the fundamentals of programming and introduction to java courses.

Currently at version 3.  Available for Windows, Mac and Linux.  There is a stand-alone version as well as a Netbeans plug-in for Java developers.
