See how 950 drones recreated the Titanic above Belfast Harbour for the BBC’s Made Of Here campaign.
For one night, the Titanic appeared to sail from Belfast again—this time as a ship made of light. A formation of 950 drones recreated the liner’s outline above Belfast Harbour for the BBC’s Made Of Here campaign, which celebrates the places and people behind its programming.
The display was inspired by Titanic Sinks Tonight, a BBC documentary series produced in Northern Ireland by Belfast-based Stellify Media. Footage of the drones aired on April 2 at 8 p.m., matching the date and time the real Titanic departed Belfast in 1912.
There’s something haunting about seeing the ship’s familiar silhouette above the harbour where it was built. More than a century after its departure, Belfast found a new way to tell part of its story.
