Sometimes the best moments on The Voice UK happen after the audition is over.
Monique Nicholson-Porter delivered one of the standout Blind Auditions of the 2026 season premiere with her performance of Ariana Grande’s “pov.” Her voice was enough to accomplish exactly what every contestant dreams about: all five coaches turned their chairs.
Of course, getting everyone to turn created an entirely new problem. Monique now had to choose between Kelly Rowland, will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, and McFly stars Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher, who share a coaching chair.
And apparently a normal sales pitch simply wasn't going to cut it.
Danny and Tom Use Kelly Rowland's Own Song Against Her
When it came time to convince Monique to join their team, Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher decided to pull out a particularly cheeky weapon: Kelly Rowland's own hit song, “Dilemma.”
Yes. With Kelly sitting right there.
The pair began singing the 2002 smash made famous by Nelly and Rowland, essentially turning Kelly's own musical history into ammunition for Team Tom and Danny.
It was the kind of wonderfully ridiculous move that could only happen on The Voice.
And once they started singing, apparently everyone else decided, “Well, we're doing this now.”
Suddenly, Everybody Is Singing
will.i.am joined the musical battle by vocalizing his own pitch to Monique, and Sir Tom Jones wasn't about to sit quietly while everybody else had all the fun. The legendary singer added his unmistakable voice to the increasingly elaborate effort to win her over.
At that point, Monique's Blind Audition had essentially transformed into an impromptu concert featuring the coaches.
The contestant who had just performed for them was suddenly standing onstage watching some of the biggest names in music perform for her.
Not a bad reversal of fortune.
Kelly Rowland Takes a Different Approach
Kelly could have responded by trying to out-sing everybody — and considering the competition had already hijacked “Dilemma,” nobody would have blamed her.
Instead, she went in another direction.
Rather than attempting to top the musical theatrics, Kelly gave Monique a heartfelt pitch about why she wanted to work with her. It brought the focus back to what the decision was actually about: finding the coach Monique believed could best help guide her voice and artistry through the competition.
After Danny, Tom, will.i.am and Sir Tom had practically turned the coaching pitches into their own variety show, Kelly simply spoke from the heart.
And it worked.
After All That... She Picks Kelly Anyway
When the musical dust finally settled, Monique Nicholson-Porter announced that she was joining Team Kelly.
Which makes the entire sequence even funnier.
Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher sang Kelly Rowland's own hit to steal Monique away from her. will.i.am joined the singing. Sir Tom Jones joined the singing. Everyone pulled out increasingly elaborate tricks to make their case.
And Monique still picked Kelly.
It was a terrific introduction to both Monique and the chemistry of the 2026 coaching panel. The coaches may technically be there to judge the contestants, but moments like this turn the entire premise upside down. Once several chairs turn, suddenly the superstars are auditioning for the contestant.
Monique Nicholson-Porter walked onto The Voice UK hoping someone would turn around.
Five coaches did.
Then they started singing to her.
And after one of the most entertaining battles of the season premiere, Kelly Rowland proved that sometimes you don't have to win the sing-off.
You just have to win the singer.
