The character will debut this June in "Marvel's Voices: Pride #1."

Let Marvel take you on an Escapade with the introduction of a new trans mutant superhero in the upcoming anthology, Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1.

Meet Shela Sexton — a.k.a. Escapade — a trans mutant whose powers let her instantly switch physical locations with another person. In addition to physical locations, Escapade can also trade any “specific physical or abstract attributes” like possessions, superpowers, and more. With the help of her techie best friend, Morgan Red, the two wreak havoc across the Marvel Universe as professional thieves… until running into the White Queen herself, Emma Frost, changes their lives forever.

Marvel teases Escapade and Morgan become “entangled with the X-Men and a deadly prophecy is unveiled in her future.”

Escapade will debut in the central story of Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1, written by author Charlie Jane Anders and drawn by artist duo Ro Stein and Ted Brandt. Escapade will also return later this year for a special story arc in New Mutants, which will also be written by Anders.

“I have loved the Marvel Universe for as long as I can remember, and may or may not sing the Spider-Man cartoon theme in the shower on a regular basis. So I was so thrilled to be able to introduce a brand-new hero to stand alongside all of my favorites,” Anders said in a statement. “I hope that Escapade and Morgan Red will inspire trans and non-binary people everywhere to believe that they, too, can fight for justice with the power of creativity and chosen family.”

Artist Brandt added: “Now more than ever, we need a hero like Shela Sexton for people to look up to. It was a real honor and a privilege to be a part of her creation process!”

“It’s very exciting to be part of bringing a new character into Marvel comics,” Stein also said in the announcement. “Working with Charlie Jane’s script was a lot of fun, and I hope people enjoy reading about Escapade as much as we did putting together her first outing on the page.”

Marvel isn’t the only comics publisher celebrating Pride this year. DC Comics has unmasked its upcoming slate of Pride Month titles, including the fan-favorite annual anthology, DC Pride 2022, along with the new graphic novel, Galaxy: The Prettiest Star from writer Jadzia Axelrod and artist Jess Taylor.

Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1 hits comic stands on June 22.
