FIYOVA Wireless Pet Water Fountain: Is It Worth It?
FIYOVA Wireless Pet Water Fountain: Is It Worth It?
My take on the FIYOVA 3.4-gallon wireless pet water fountain after seeing how well it works for friends, their cats and their dogs.

Every once in a while, I buy something because friends won’t stop talking about how much they love theirs. That’s exactly what happened with the FIYOVA 3.4-Gallon Wireless Pet Water Fountain.

Two of my friends have this fountain, and they absolutely love it. More importantly, I’ve actually seen it in action. Their cats and dogs use it, the water stays clean, and the whole thing works so well that I finally decided I needed one too.

And yes, I bought one.

This Thing Is BIG

One of the first things that caught my attention was the size. The FIYOVA fountain holds 12 liters, or about 3.4 gallons, of water.

That makes a huge difference if you have larger dogs, several pets, or simply don’t want to constantly refill a tiny water bowl.

The drinking tray is also wider and deeper than what you typically see on smaller pet fountains. That gives larger dogs plenty of room to drink naturally while also helping contain some of the splashing that inevitably comes with enthusiastic drinkers.

Wireless Is a Game Changer

This may be my favorite feature.

The fountain is rechargeable and can operate wirelessly, which means you aren't forced to put the water bowl wherever there happens to be an electrical outlet.

No cord stretched across the floor. No pet chewing on the cord. No trying to rearrange the room because the perfect spot for the water fountain happens to be six feet away from the nearest outlet.

FIYOVA advertises up to 60 days of operation on a full charge, depending on how the fountain is used.

But here's another feature I really appreciate: you can also leave it plugged in.

So you essentially get the best of both worlds. Use it completely cordless when that's convenient, or keep it connected to power if you have a permanent location for it.

Three Different Modes

The fountain has three operating modes:

  • Sensor Mode – The fountain activates when your pet approaches.
  • Timer Mode – Water circulates at timed intervals.
  • Continuous Mode – The water runs continuously.

My friends use sensor mode, and after seeing it work, that's probably the mode that interests me most.

When a pet approaches for a drink, the fountain comes to life.

It also makes the whole thing surprisingly entertaining when a cat encounters it for the first time.

What Do the Cats Think?

Dogs seem to understand the assignment pretty quickly:

"Water! Excellent!"

Cats, being cats, may require a formal investigation.

My friends' cats were a little hesitant at first. Suddenly their water bowl was doing things. There was movement. There was flowing water. Clearly, an inquiry had to be opened.

But once they figured out what it was, they adapted quickly and now use it right along with the dogs.

That's worth mentioning if you're buying one for cats. Don't necessarily assume your cat hates it because he or she spends the first day staring at it suspiciously from across the room.

Give them a little time.

The Water Actually Stays Clean

Another big reason I wanted this particular fountain is the filtration system.

The FIYOVA uses a five-stage filtration system designed to catch hair and particles, reduce odors, soften the water and keep the circulating water cleaner.

Anyone with pets knows how quickly a regular water bowl can become a collection point for fur, dust, food particles and assorted little mysteries you'd rather not identify.

Because the water is filtered and circulated, the fountain does a much better job of keeping the water fresh and appealing.

Replacement filters are part of the system, so there is some ongoing maintenance involved. That's something I'd consider a feature rather than a drawback, though. If I'm giving my fur babies gallons of water from the same reservoir, I want that water going through a replaceable filter.

Stainless Steel Was Another Selling Point

The fountain is made from SUS304 stainless steel rather than being one giant plastic water container.

That's important to me for both durability and cleaning.

It also has two handles for moving it around, a visible water-level window so you don't have to open the fountain just to see how much water remains, and it comes with a cleaning brush for maintaining the pump and fountain.

FIYOVA also recommends cleaning away accumulated pet saliva during regular maintenance to help keep the filtration system working efficiently.

Yes, pet parents. We have to talk about the slobber.

Especially those of us with dogs.

And It's Quiet

FIYOVA rates the fountain at less than 25 decibels, so it is designed to operate very quietly.

That's especially important with a pet fountain because this isn't something you're going to run for ten minutes and put away. It's sitting in your home day after day.

A constantly humming or buzzing water fountain would drive me insane long before it bothered the animals.

The quiet operation also probably helps explain why pets can adjust to it relatively quickly.

Why I Finally Bought One

What ultimately sold me wasn't an Amazon description.

It was seeing the fountain actually work.

I know two people who own it. I've watched their dogs use it. I've watched their cats figure it out and be just fine. I've seen how clean the water stays, and I've heard how much my friends like having it.

That's a considerably better recommendation than scrolling through hundreds of anonymous online reviews.

So I finally ordered one for myself.

The combination of the huge 3.4-gallon capacity, stainless-steel construction, rechargeable wireless operation, three operating modes, sensor activation and filtered water makes this one of those pet products that solves several little annoyances at once.

Is it more elaborate than putting a stainless-steel bowl on the floor and filling it from the faucet?

Absolutely.

But when you have pets drinking from that bowl every single day, keeping plenty of clean, fresh water available is one area where a little overengineering isn't such a bad thing.

My friends already loved theirs.

Their dogs love it.

Their cats eventually decided it wasn't plotting against them.

And after seeing all of that for myself, I finally joined the club.

Check out this quick review which also shows how to change the filters and charge it up.  You can grab one over on Amazon. I'm so excited I finally have one myself.
