Air Fryer Char Siu Chicken (Chinese BBQ Chicken)
Air Fryer Char Siu Chicken (Chinese BBQ Chicken)
If you love BBQ Pork, try this red honey bbq chicken. This chicken recipe is roasted bbq chicken marinated to savory, sweet, sticky perfection.

  • Chicken Thighs / Chicken Breast/ Drumstick
  • Char Siu Sauce (Char Siew - Chinese BBQ Sauce):
    • 1/2 tbsp onion
    • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
    • 1/4 tbsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp five-spice powder
    • 1/4 tbsp pepper
    • 1.5 tbsp brown sugar
    • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce
    • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
    • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    • 1 tbsp oil
    • 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
    • 1 tbsp cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • Red fermented bean curd / red food color (optional)

  1. Prepare your chicken (stab the heck out of it all)
  2. Make your marinade
  3. Toss the chicken in the marinade.  Cover and set in refridgerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Cook chicken in air fryer at 370°F for 15 minutes; flipping chicken at the halfway mark.
  5. Brush/glaze some of your leftover marinade (mix with 1 tbsp honey) on the chicken.
  6. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Cut it up in slices and add on top of your steamed rice, sticky rice, banh mi bread, or noodles.

NOTE:  You could also speed up the process and just purchase a jar of Char Siu Sauce rather than making it from scratch.

What's your reaction?
