This delicious lightly sweet and savory Apple Cider Gravy is very easy to make with lots of ways to change it up.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup apple cider
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 4 cups turkey or chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
- In a medium saucepan, bring apple cider and vinegar to a boil.
- Boil until reduced by half.
- Add broth and bring to a simmer.
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter. Add flour and stir to form a paste.
- Continue to cook, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes, or until mixture has a slight aroma of popcorn.
- Slowly add cider-broth mixture, whisking constantly to smooth out any lumps.
- Add thyme. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer and stir until gravy thickens. Serve hot.
