10 Minute Frying Pan Bread (English Muffins)
These quick and simple english muffins are the bomb! with just a handful of ingredients and 10 minutes you're good to go! Perfect for the beginner or anyone that likes to experiment.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tbsp baking powder
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, but typical for muffins)
  • ½ cup milk or plain yogurt (yogurt gives more chew)
  • 4 tsp neutral oil (vegetable or olive oil)
  • Cornmeal or flour (for dusting)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Dry mix
In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add liquids
Stir in milk (or yogurt) and oil. Knead 2-3 minutes to combine.
  3. Roll it out
Put dough onto a floured surface. Roll to about ½ inch thick—this thickness is key.
  4. Cut the muffins
Use a cookie cutter or drinking glass (about 3 inches wide).
Re-roll scraps and repeat until you have ~12 rounds.
  5. Dust
Lightly coat each round with flour or cornmeal (classic English muffin texture).
  6. Cook in a pan
Heat a dry nonstick or cast-iron skillet over low heat.
Cook around 6 muffins for 5 minutes the first side and 3-5 minutes the other side, covered, until:
    • Golden brown
    • Puffy
    • Cooked through (no doughy center)
  7. Cool slightly & split
Let rest 2 minutes. Fork-split for nooks and crannies (optional but righteous). Otherwise just use a knife.
