Digestive biscuits are semi-sweet, crisp, and buttery biscuits that originated in Scotland in 1839. They are often made with whole wheat flour, sugar, vegetable oil, and baking soda. The name comes from the high baking soda content, which helps with digestion.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 cups wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 5 tbsp milk
  • (optional) if you are using unsalted butter then use 1/4 tsp of salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Pre-heat the oven on 338 degrees
  2. Mix all ingredients together
  3. Roll out the dough and cut into circles
  4. Using a toothpick you can put holes into them (or not)
  5. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the cookies are pale gold

TIP

If you want to keep to normal you could pre-heat the oven to 350 and cook for about 15-17 minutes.  Just watch them and it'll work out just fine.

What's your reaction?
