5 Minute Microwave Fudge
5 Minute Microwave Fudge
This easy fudge recipe is made without a saucepan or candy thermometer. One bowl and the microwave is all you need to make smooth, creamy fudge.

This fudge recipe is as versatile and easy as you can get.  Just swap out the chocolate chips for any other kind of chips.  I've also used butterscotch and peanut butter chips.  This is my recipe I use year after year.

INGREDIENTS

  • ¼ cup butter
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can Carnation sweetened condensed milk (12 oz)
  • ½  cup lightly toasted walnuts or other nuts (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Line a 9″ by 9″ pan with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Place chocolate chips and butter in microwave safe bowl. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the chocolate chips and butter.
  3. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir well.
  4. Microwave on high for another 2 minutes. Stir well again.
  5. It should be hot, shiny and smooth.  If the chocolate chips are not completely melted, continue to microwave at 60 second intervals at 50% power until chocolate is completely melted. Stirring after each time. (sometimes I am over cautious and do it at 30 second intervals instead)
  6. Add chopped walnuts (if using) and stir completely.
  7. Pour fudge into prepared pan.
  8. Refrigerate for an hour or until completely hardened.
  9. Lift foil out of pan and cut into cubes.

TIP:  I have tried this myself with peppermint chips for the holidays.  MOUTH WATERING!

NOTE:  Most recipes (even ones I have posted on this site) call for a standard 14oz can of condensed milk.  This one calls for the smaller 12oz can because of the 1/4 cup butter to make it "shiny".  You could just leave out the butter and go with the 14oz can.

Microwave Fudge

Now...here is another variation with the same result.  This particular recipe goes with the video she is making.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 ½ cups (28 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 4 cups (680 grams) Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Lightly brush an 8”x8” tray with butter and line with parchment paper. Keep it aside.
  2. Now in a microwave safe bowl, add the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, butter and salt.
  3. Place the bowl in the microwave for a total of 2 minutes, 1 minute at a time in 30 seconds increments, stirring between the minutes.
  4. After two minutes give the mixture a stir till all the chocolate chips in the bowl melt with the heat in the chocolate fudge.
  5. Add in the vanilla extract and mix it into the fudge.
  6. Pour the chocolate fudge into the prepared tray and using a spatula give the fudge an uneven texture on the top.
  7. Cover the fudge with an aluminum foil or plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator until set. Overnight is best.
  8. To unmold the fudge, pull the parchment paper overhangs and remove it from the tray.  Gently peel off the parchment paper and cut into desired size cubes.
  9. This fudge makes an excellent gift for the holiday season.

NOTE:  Although I have done peanut butter fudge this way...I usually prefer to do it the proper method.  Just as my mother used to.  See John do it here.

🥜 Nut Fudges🥜: stir in 1/2 cup roughly chopped nuts (pecan, walnut, or almond). Consider replacing all or part of the vanilla extract with the corresponding nut extract.

🎅🏻 White Chocolate Fudge🎅🏻: replace semi-sweet chocolate chips with white chocolate chips.

🌀 Marbled Fudge🌀: make half of the recipe with white chocolate chips and the other half with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Spoon each into prepared pan to dot the bottom then use a butter knife or toothpick to swirl together.

🍬 Mint Chocolate Fudge🍬: replace vanilla extract with 1 teaspoon peppermint extract.
