  • STILL Hangin’ On, iTunes...

Where’s the rest of the album? Why aren’t either the single or full LP versions of “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” included with this album?

Ripoff. The original LP had you keep me hanging on. They were really trashed when they originally released the LP. It took about a year to catch on. Then you heard their songs everywhere.

What a listen. This band has surely had it's ups and downs and unwelcoming vissiccitudes overall, but here is the album that starts the Vanilla Fudge journey. From the vast and hard rocking organ solos to the earth vibrating drum fills, this album is a must have. Now, the album after this is not as good because it uses the vanilla fudge formula to write covers by adding extraneous filler to begginings and endings to tunes, and having the melody slowed. Overall, it's worth the cash.

VF lit the fuse for a new form of rock. Though many of the songs are covers, they are given new life and a fresh face. Thanks!!!

The original (5 star) album had 10 tracks. What happened to them? What happened to the 7:20 minute version of 'You Keep Me Hanging On?' iTunes fudged this album. Caveat emptor.

The Vanilla Fudge was at the forefront of the psychedelic era. Their stoned covers of popular songs gave them a different vibe and interpretation much like Jimi Hendrix with his cover of All Along The Watchtower. I’m not not implying that these reach that hight but You Keep Me Hanging On reaches a level of obsevice longing that give a much different meaning to the song. Well worth a listen, except that this is not the complete original album. This album is basically missing a whole side and the original long version of You Keep Me Hanging On. What is up with this?

And what a great album it was! I played it to death, & still like it to this day. It really puts you in a space in time, & a good one at that.
  • Vanilla Fudge Brings Back a Lot of Memories

Way back in the late 60’s or early 70’s (I can’t remember, go figure) I was lucky enough to know the Vanilla Fudge when they lived at the old Garwood Mansion on the Detroit River in Southeast Detroit. A very good friend of mine, “Ralph Schelarith” was their roommate and lived with them at the mansion. We used to hang out in the organ loft and listen to them practice for hours while they worked out riff’s for their shows and refined their timings. My favorite will always be their rendition of the Supremes “Set Me Free Why Don’t You Babe” and we listened so many times it was seared into our brains. Thanks for having them on iTunes. It gave me an opportunity to retrieve some of my past!

I felt these guys always sucked but my older brother loved them...then he goes to the Aragon Brawlroom (Chicago) to see them as the mainliners and what groups are playing openers...Jethro Tull and the newly formed Led Zeppelin(look it up, it's true)...he couldn't stop talking about Zeppelin, went out bought their first album played it over and over again, I ended up loving it and became a LZ fan...thank you Vanilla Fudge
