Jay warned us he was going to try something different with this album. I admit, upon first listening to this collection, I was a bit concerned. Turns out all apprehenshions were totally unwarranted. The songs are a like a road map starting with past ugly feelings, stopping to find someone to explore these feelings with, and continuing on to become a sailor whose strong enough to carry them both. I applaude him on his new endeavor and wish him every success. As always, great story-telling, insane guitar, and a voice that is as perfect for it's power as it is for it's careful lack of prettiness. Buy the albums and see him in concert whenever you can.

I usually like Jay's work, and this album is no exception when it comes to superb guitar. He's an excellent musician. As a singer, however, he leaves something to be desired on this set of songs, too often not quite reaching the note he's going for, or otherwise being just a bit out of tune. Lyrics are fine, guitar work excellent, but vocally, it's simply not very well done.

Every album of Jay's is packed with exceptional, quality music. There's something about this one that feels like a new departure- maybe a little more undertones of melancholy, or possibly more personal lyrics. Whatever it is, one thing is for sure: it's his best album yet.

I got hooked on Jay Nash when I heard the collaboration album from TFDI. I went back and purchased several of Jay's solo albums. It is quality music with great guitar work and well written lyrics. Jay produces songs that you can connect to, can feel his emotion coming through the song, and you eventually start singing along. I love to find unique artists that produce great music consistently and Jay has not let us down yet including his newest album Letters from the Lost.
