Solid rock n roll record Let me tell u right off the bat I'm a Scott Weiland/STP fan more than VR. By FAR. The music is so much more beautiful and rocks just as hard to me So there are songs I like u may not. I like the ones where Scott shines Do it for the kids Superhuman Grew straight on me cuz the lyrics Loving the Alien is FREAKN gorgeous "sometimes. Is all the Time And never, means maybe" Anyone whose ever been addicted and ashamed of that addiction knows exactly what Scott means. And u don't have to be addicted to drugs either. Just something that u do too often u wish you could stop but just can't and thus won't. It's hopeless. But gorgeous. And witty as is all Scott's lyrics. He's a true poet. Not from the 80's he's a 90's kid. Deal. And last but not least is the other balladish song You have no right. "funny how here I find myself Inside a paper cup (antidepressants etc-he's pretty bi-polar) Without a warning or a reason it's a treason - with no answer You got no right To keep it raining here U got no right To keep the pain in here ..." Not perfect lyrics but good for a review There are songs I have to get used to. Im not into "Ball" Rock lol (trying to be clean.... Doing it for the kids like VR ;) So those songs I still need to make peace with Without a Scott this album is an EASY 2 Star record Superhuman saves the day again If I were a teenager I would take my advice and get into his real band not this side project - Stone Temple Pilots If u like it hard then get the first record "CORE" If you're like me and a little deeper thoughtful and poetic then get "Purple" If u like sunnier, brighter non-depressed sounding songs get "Tiny Music... " If you're ready to go deeper into the catalog which I don't recommend until u pass one of these first rights of passage then get "N° 4" If you want to go off the deep end get "Shangra La De Dah". Not for experienced fans hardly let alone beginners And their newest album is EPIC. it's a self titled album WITH NO FILLERS. It's ALL rock n roll Few beautiful songs but they're all beautiful at once. STP is honestly where it's at But I come from the younger alternative era. I looked up to people like Scott and Kurt Cobain Billy Corgan and Maynard from tool and Layne from Alice In Chains I know what I'm talking about kiddo. If ur a music fan u would be a real fool to choose VR over STP (unless u like ball rock ) LOLLL My music. I appreciate visits. I don't really advertise but I ain't half bad and the new stuff is on its way AnemicMe. Posterous. Com THANK YOU Google AnemicMe*

Fantastic album, but iTunes's info is wrong this came out about June 21st,2004. I know that because Scott weiland(the singer) was still with STP. It wasn't until nearly 14 years later that Scott broke up with STP and went to do Velvet Revolver with Slash and the GNR gang.

I thought Contraband was an AWSOME album and one of my favorites but i want to correct itunes right quick. Itunes has the release date of the album set in 1990. So yall might want to change that. other than that great stuff.

Dude, I may be a girl and almost 13, but this rocks. Slash is my guitar hero. This is awesome. The second album is a bit better than this one in my opinion. The one thing I can't stand about VR is Scott. He may be a good singer, but I know for a fact, that he has been in rehab WAY more times than the rest of the guys. At least he got kicked out in April. Let's just cross our fingers and hope that VR's next singer rocks more than Weiland!
  • VR is the best of GnR!

But how could it not be with the core of that once great band together here? Although they felt the need to apologize for their debut album I think it is superior to the follow up Libertad. Sadly the band parted ways with their lead singer Scott Weiland but there is rumor of a new singer on the horizon, his voice will be missed. Also check out the videos from this album as well - especially "Fall to Pieces" & "Slither" - amazing! Buyers should be aware that the "black" version of the album is the "clean" editied version which is not clear at all when purchasing here on ITunes. The "white" version is the real one to get.
