There is always something outstandingly special about music from Ann Licater. Her new album is “Whispers From Earth - Flute Passages for Meditation and Inspiration,” which is a gorgeous collection of 12 peaceful, thoughtful, meditative pieces. Here, we are reviewing the title track (track 1). First, a little about Ann: Ann is a California based, award-winning recording artist, world flutist, producer, and composer of relaxing music. Her love of wood and clay flutes led her to study with master Native American flutist R. Carlos Nakai complementing her years of classical flute training at the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, MN. On her albums, as in her concerts, Ann’s unique approach merges her intuition, global perspective, and traditional music background. Her distinctive signature sound on Native American and world flutes has been lauded and embraced worldwide, heard via inflight entertainment, spa radio stations, and as meditation music in yoga studios and more. Inspired by Ann’s walks in nature, there is a gentle power here that is palatable, seeping deeply into the soul, relaxing, soothing, and comforting even the weariest spirit. Here, we can literally feel ourselves returning immediately and effortlessly back into alignment. GRAMMY®-nominated flutist, Peter Phippen, joins Ann on this piece as co-producer as well as performing on Shakuhachi flute. And here we also have Ivar Lunde, Jr. on synthesizer (who also is the recording, mixing and mastering engineer), all giving this a truly calming, ethereal feel. Stellar production, along with a magical melody line, which is NOT aimlessly meandering, softly invites us to simply relax and deeply reconnect. “Whispers From Earth” is a definitive “must have.”
