The Best of Baka Beyond

The Metting Pool may be 15 years old, but it's undeniably the best of the Baka Beyond albums. I'd know, since I have listened to all of them with the exception of Rhythm Tree. This album is so good in so many ways! It provides a wonderful and moving mix of world music. The music in the album is effective at relaxing the listener, though it certainly isn't meditation style music which is very slow and has no beat.
The Metting Pool is a great album in that all of its songs have different vibes and structures, but sound great! From personal experience, the songs in the first half of the album sound more "African" in that they have Baka singers and a Baka feel. Starting with Ohureo, the album songs become a little less Baka and a little more synthesized, with the exception of Ndewah's Dream. The album is extremely calming-though NOT boring by any means-and is highly recommended!
Due to the diverse feeling of the songs (some have didgeridoo, some feel synthesized, some are more "traditional") this album is my favorite Baka Beyond album by a long shot. I also like the singing in this album more than the singing in other albums because it really complements the music.
All songs are recommended, but if you only have a couple dollars left on your account, buy:
Ohureo
Journey
Ndewah's Dream
Booma Lena
Just below that:
Meeting of Tribes
If you have the money, don't miss:
Woosi
Ancestor's Voice
Lupe
Enjoy!
