How to Make Simple Syrup (and Starbucks Liquid Cane Sugar)

Don't waste your money!!! You DON'T need to buy simple syrup because it's super easy to make at home - it's literally two ingredients and can be made in under 10 minutes! Use it in cocktails, coffee, lemonade, or cakes. Super simple; simple syrup.

EQUIPMENT

  • Glass bottle or jar
  • Measuring cup

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup warm water

TIP

If you want to make the Liquid Cane Sugar used at Starbucks you just slightly alter the ingredients.  It is still a 1:1 ratio.  Use these instead:

With the Starbucks sugar you could also do it a bit more involved to kick it up a notch BUT again; not required.

  1. Combine both sugars and water in a saucepan on the stove over medium heat.
  2. Stir continuously until both sugars have completely dissolved.
  3. Once liquid cane sugar reaches boil, reduce heat. Simmer syrup for about 5 minutes to reduce.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool and thicken some more. Store in a bottle in the refrigerator.
