The Barber of Seville (1816), or The Useless Precaution is an opera buffa in two acts composed by Gioachino Rossini with an Italian libretto by Cesare Sterbini. The libretto was based on Pierre Beaumarchais's French comedy The Barber of Seville.

One of the most celebrated and popular of all operas – Rossini’s comic masterpiece, 'The Barber of Seville' produced by Wide Open Opera (one of the founding companies of Irish National Opera) in 2016 at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.
