Don't waste your money!!! You DON'T need to buy simple syrup because it's super easy to make at home - it's literally two ingredients and can be made in under 10 minutes! Use it in cocktails, coffee, lemonade, or cakes. Super simple; simple syrup.
EQUIPMENT
- Glass bottle or jar
- Measuring cup
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup warm water
TIP
If you want to make the Liquid Cane Sugar used at Starbucks you just slightly alter the ingredients. It is still a 1:1 ratio. Use these instead:
- 3/4 cup turbinado cane sugar
- 1/4 cup white cane sugar (it's just standard sugar)
- 1 cup water (filtered is better but not required)
With the Starbucks sugar you could also do it a bit more involved to kick it up a notch BUT again; not required.
- Combine both sugars and water in a saucepan on the stove over medium heat.
- Stir continuously until both sugars have completely dissolved.
- Once liquid cane sugar reaches boil, reduce heat. Simmer syrup for about 5 minutes to reduce.
- Remove from heat and let cool and thicken some more. Store in a bottle in the refrigerator.
