Each one of these places brings that south-of-the-border flavor to you in a big way.
Agave Azul
Agave Azul is a chain of restaurants that specializes in traditional Mexican food made in a modern way.
They have locations all over Orlando, so you are never far away from this delightful spot. I appreciated how delicious the food was as well as the presentation.
The food always looked visually appealing. I love the ceviche. It was honestly as good as the ceviche I’ve had in South America.
For dessert, I had the ice cream tacos. That waffle cone filled with dulce de leche ice cream and topped with caramel and whipped cream is mouth watering just from looking at it.
If you want something to do on the weekend, check out their Sunday Brunch. You don’t want to miss it.
El Patron Restaurante
If you are in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Orlando, check out El Patron Restaurante Mexicano. El Patron serves up traditional Mexican food with a twist. I promise you will love the twist.
El Patron’s kitchen is headed by Norberto Herrera who received an honorable mention. The Consulate of Mexico has recognized his professional merits as a Mexican cuisine chef.
I ordered the burrito and the carne asada. The burrito was smothered in delicious cheese sauce. The carne asada was perfectly cooked, and when I heard the sizzle, I knew it would be good.
El Patron will give you the fix for the Mexican food you have been craving.
Chuy's
Chuy’s is another Mexican that has spots all over Orlando. This chain has its origins in Austin, Texas, and it brings that excellent Tex-Mex taste to Orlando.
Chuy’s has all the traditional Tex-Mex items. I recommend the chips and queso. I have no idea what they did to that cheese, but it’s working!
Chuy’s also has a variety of special sauces that you can’t sleep on. If you’re a fan of churros, don’t leave Chuy’s without ordering some.
They come covered in cinnamon and sugar, and with a delicious caramel sauce on the side. Just dip and eat. Chuy’s is the spot if you are looking for some quick Tex-Mexi food.
Rocco's Tacos and Tequila Bar
For a good reason, Rocco’s Tacos and Tequila Bar is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Orlando. There is something about tacos and tequila that satisfies your soul.
If you are in Sand Lake, you cannot miss Rocco’s. I ordered the chicken tacos, and they were outstanding.
The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I could not get enough of those tacos. The atmosphere at Rocco’s is festive and fun.
It’s the perfect spot to enjoy some good Mexican food and relax with friends. I also recommend the Brunch if you are craving Mexican on the weekend, plus it’s all you can drink.
Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food
If you are visiting Universal Studios and are craving some Mexican food, I highly recommend you stop by Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food.
I think Antojitos serves some of the best food in the park. Antojitos uses the freshest ingredients to create authentic Mexican food.
Plus, the decor of the place is outstanding. It transports you to Mexico in the best way. I ordered the carnitas, which were tender and juicy.
The tacos were also fantastic. I could not get enough of the fresh salsa. If you are looking for a quick bite in between rides, Antojitos is the spot.
Azteca D'Oro Mexican Restaurant
Azteca D’Oro Mexican Restaurant is another Mexican chain serving delicious Mexican food all over Orlando.
They serve traditional Mexican fare, but their menu stands out for the soups they serve. I ordered the Sopa Azteca and the shrimp and tequila chowder, which were delicious.
The soups offer something new besides the traditional Mexican fare at most restaurants. I also recommend their margaritas.
They have a vast selection and are all delicious, particularly the tamarindo. To finish my meal, I ordered sopapillas.
I got a plate filled with deep-fried tortilla puffs covered in honey and cinnamon sugar. And to make something great even greater, they serve some vanilla ice cream on the side. Heaven!
Black Rooster Taqueria
You can find Black Rooster Taqueria in the Rowena Gardens neighborhood of Orlando. Black Rooster is the place to be if you are craving a tasty taco.
I highly encourage you to order their guacamole which is made to order and delicious. The tacos are between $3 and $5, so you can request a variety. I particularly enjoyed the pork and carne asada taco. The flavors were on point.
Black Rooster Taqueria is an excellent spot for lunch or dinner. The service is always friendly, and the tacos don’t disappoint.
Border Grill Fresh-Mex
Suppose you want to head south of the Border, head to Border Grill Fresh-Mex off Vineland Road in the Windhover neighborhood.
Border Grill is a low-key Mexican restaurant serving up your favorite plates at low prices. I ordered the delicious enchiladas. The sauce was flavorful, and the chicken was perfect.
I also recommend their chips and salsa. The salsa is made fresh and has a little bit of heat to it. If you are looking for an affordable Mexican meal, Border Grill is the spot.
Chili's
If you and your friends can’t decide what to eat but want Mexican food, I recommend heading down to Chili’s.
There are several Chili’s in the Orlando area, and although this chain serves various foods, their Mexican food is on point.
I ordered the fajitas, which come with your choice of meat, peppers, onions, and tortillas. The portion size is enormous, so be prepared to share or take some home.
The margaritas are also a must. Chili’s is the perfect spot to go with your friends.
Señor Frog’s
If you are in the Doctor Phillips neighborhood and are craving some Mexican food and some great vibes, I highly recommend you head to Señor Frog’s.
In addition to serving up fun Mexican food, Senor’ Frog’s has incredible fun and vibrant decor that is great for the whole family.
I ordered the chicken nachos, which were delicious and perfect for sharing. The chips were fresh and crispy, and the chicken was flavorful.
I also recommend their margaritas. They are some of the best in Orlando. Senor Frog’s is a great spot for lunch or dinner with the whole family.
Uncle Julio's
If you visit some of the fun attractions near the Florida Center and need a bit to eat, hit Uncle Julio’s. Uncle Julio’s serves up authentic Mexican food that is from scratch.
They have fantastic dine-in specials, including a fresh margarita of the month and new carnitas fajitas and tacos. I tried out the carnitas tacos and margaritas and was blown away.
The margaritas were strong and tasty, and the tacos were some of the best I’ve ever had. Uncle Julio’s is the place to be if you are looking for authentic carnitas.
bartaco
If you are in the Doctor Phillips Shopping Center and want some Mexican food, check out bartaco. As the name suggests, bartaco is a restaurant that serves tacos and drinks.
The sheer number of different tacos is impressive. I ordered the seared chorizo and the spiced chicken Verde, and I also tried out the glazed pork belly rice bowl.
All three items were outstanding. I rounded out my meal with one of their signature cocktails, the caipirinha sanguina, and was impressed by the quality.
It is easy to see why bartaco is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Orlando.
Cafe Tu Tu Tango
Of all the restaurants on my list of the best Mexican restaurants in Orlando, Cafe Tu Tu Tango has the best name.
The quality of this restaurant goes far behind the name. Located by the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf in South Sand Lake, Cafe Tu Tu Tango serves delicious tapas-style small plates.
Everything on the menu looks and sounds delicious, so it’s hard to choose what to get. I started with some of the spreads and the ceviche and finished with some grilled fish tacos.
All of them were good, but the grilled fish tacos stood out. If you love small plates, Cafe Tu Tu Tango is the place to be.
Don Julio
Don Julio is another one of the high-quality chain restaurants that have made my list of the best Mexican restaurants in Orlando.
Don Julio is a Mexican kitchen and tequila bar serving fantastic food and cocktails. I started my meal with guacamole, some of the best I’ve ever had.
For my entree, I ordered the chicken enchiladas and was not disappointed. The chicken was tender, and the sauce was flavorful.
I finished my meal with one of their delicious margaritas. Don Julio is an excellent spot for a casual night out with friends or family.
Frontera Cocina
If you are in the Lake Buena Vista area, check out Frontera Cocina. Celebrity chef Rick Bayless runs Frontera Cocina, and it lives up to the hype.
The menu is filled with all sorts of delicious-sounding options, but I decided to go with the steak tacos, chips, and salsa.
Thes salsa was fresh and delicious, and the steak was perfectly cooked. I would not hesitate to go back to Frontera Cocina.
