INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 2-3 lbs grapes
- 4 - 6 drops Gel Food coloring (optional)
- Assorted candies (crushed Jolly Ranchers, rock candy, Warheads, Pop Rocks, Nonpareils or use Nerds)
- 100 toothpicks or skewers
DIRECTIONS
- Wash your grapes first and dry. Ice baths works best but not necessary.
- Crush up your candy coating (if you chose to use one) and put into a bowl for dipping.
- In a sauce pot combine the sugar, water and corn syrup. Heat on medium and keep stirring until it reaches 300 degrees.
- Add a few drops of gel food coloring (if you want to change the color...otherwise it is clear coated and the color of the grapes)
- Put the grapes on toothpicks or skewers and dip in the coating.
- As you dip each grape in the liquid coating immediately dip into whatever candy topping you chose (if any...it's optional).
- Set each coated grape onto a piece of parchment paper.
- Let them sit for about 30 minutes to harden.
TIP
You could also just drizzle leftover liquid candy coating onto the grapes rather than the crushed candy. Gives it a more "designer" look if you used food coloring. Like you would do with strawberries.
